“Frontiers of Neuromorphic Computing” workshop at MPL 2023

The “Frontiers of Neuromorphic Computing” workshop attracted experts from all over the world to Erlangen in September.

A great line-up of speakers from a diverse range of platforms, including electronic, magnetic, optical, mechanical and many more, created ideal conditions for the scientific exchange of experts and led to a lively discussion among the seminar attendees. The field of neuromorphic computing is moving fast with many exciting advances in areas like novel training procedures for large-scale neuromorphic physical learning machines. During the workshop, scientists discussed whether in a few years physical learning machines will replace digital neural networks in areas where energy-efficiency is key, where sensors need to be tightly integrated from the start, or where ultra-low latency is crucial. A continuation of this workshop is planned in two years.
