application & admission

Application is possible via NOAH.

There are two deadlines each year: January, 31st and July, 31st.

The applications that have been submitted until that deadline will be evaluated by the IMPRS advisors. 

For application the following things are needed:

• details about person and career
• uploads of Highschool / Bachelor / Master certificate and transcripts
• motivation letter
• comment on the project you would like to work on
• proof of proficiency in English
• 2 letters of recommendation sent directly by the referees to imprs@mpl.mpg.de (the referees must be asked to send these letters by the applicant)

After the evaluation of the applications, the applicants will receive an e-mail from the coordinator about the outcome of evaluation. 
If the evaluation is positive, the applicants will be invited to Erlangen, Germany, for the so-called "Interview Days". There they have to deliver a talk (about 15-20 minutes) and answer questions of the advisors (about 10-15 minutes). Moreover, they get a first impression of the different institutions that participate in the IMPRS and have some social events.

The applicants with the best talks are then invited to become a member of the IMPRS-PL and as soon as they are admitted to University, they are allowed to come to us and start their PhD project.
